Trainer Statement

I love teaching, training, and using Motivational Interviewing (MI) and have gone through the additional voluntary process of becoming a MINT Certified Trainer. I'm delighted you are interested in learning more about MI and sincerely look forward to discussing how I might help you learn more about it or help you bring it to your team or organization. I was first introduced to MI in the early 1990s when I was working as a detox counselor.  In 2004, I founded a community-based, not-for-profit counseling center based on foundational principles of trauma-informed care, third-wave CBT modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy® (DBT®) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the spirit and principles of MI. I have been training addiction counselors, mental health professionals, health care professionals, educators, and human resources managers in MI since 2010 and bring all of my background and training in adult learning, experiential education, and evidence-based practice into my trainings and workshops. I am approved by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) to teach both the 3-day basic Motivational Interviewing training and the two-day Advanced Motivational Interviewing training required for the Certified/Licensed Addiction Counselor credential in Colorado. I would be delighted to bring these specific trainings to your site or to collaborate with you to customize the training that best fits your organizational needs and training goals.
