More About Me

About Me

I am an Accredited Counsellor, Nurse, Clinical Supervisor and Professional Trainer. I have worked in the Irish health and university sectors for several decades. I originally became a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) back in 2003.

My qualifications include;  DProf (Professional Studies), MA (Counselling & Psychotherapy), MA (Supervisory Practice), MA (Education), Hdip (Education), BSc (Counselling/Psychotherapy), HGdip (Psychotherapy), Prof. Cert (Addiction Counselling), Prof Cert (Mindfulness Teaching), Cert (CBCS), Registered Nurse (RPN, RGN - NMBI), BACP (Registered), ACI (Accredited).

I am an experienced educator, delivering training in Motivational Interviewing since 2003. I have extensive experience of delivering training to Health & Social Care Professionals, Nurses, Medical Staff, Social Care and Youth Workers. I have delivered extensive training for many professional bodies including ISCP, AOTI, IASALT and SCI over the past 10 years. I have also delivered training within many of Ireland’s largest health and social care organisations. Aswell as working extensively across the Irish health service, I was a lead tutor and academic advisor at the department of Adult & Community Education, NUI Maynooth for nearly 20 years.

I have a special interest in health behaviour change. I am co-developer and co-author of the SAOR model of Screening and Brief Intervention. I am lead author for multiple national guiding frameworks including Clinical Supervision and CBT training. I am co-founder of Recovery College South East; a peer led mental health education initiative in the South East of Ireland.
