About Me

Rashelle is an Associate Professor within the Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.  She is trained as a clinical psychologist with expertise in behavioral health change and health psychology within healthcare settings. She has worked as a researcher, educator, and clinicians focused on cancer prevention- namely in the areas of smoking cessation, substance misuse, and obesity/weight management.  Rashelle received her PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia in 2007, and completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois and the Miriam Hospital/Brown Alpert Medical school, respectively. Prior to her position at VCU, she was faculty at the University of Massachusetts, Department of Medicine, and the University of Richmond.

Rashelle has been practicing and conducting MI trainings for nearly 15 years. Both her clinical and research work is based in MI intervention as it relates to health behavior change. She has conducted trainings for businesses, private organizations, academia, and for a variety of clinicians.
