About Me

Christopher Wirt LCSW-C currently teaches in the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work focusing on Child Welfare Practice and Motivational Interviewing.  In addition, Mr. Wirt is the Assistant Director of the Title IV-E Child Welfare Education program, which trains social work students as they prepare for professional careers in the child welfare system.

Mr. Wirt has been a member of the MINT since 2018 and has offered MI training to a wide variety of professionals, focusing primarily on using MI in a Child Welfare setting.

Mr. Wirt has worked with Standardized Clients to allow students the opportunity to learn, practice and be tested on their clinical skills in a simulated setting.  Mr. Wirt has developed scenarios, trained standardized clients, facilitated teaching and testing, participated in research using standardized clients and has presented at national conferences related to this work.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1995, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland in 2003 and has 16 years of direct practice experience in Maryland’s Child Welfare system.
